i don’t think i’ve ever referenced valentino’s clothes with any aspiration, or inspiration; if i have referred to the clothes, it was probably the vocal equivalent of a yawn. i am sure, however, that i’ve mentioned valentino garavani, the man, and it was to express awe at the overly-tanned hue of his face, his anchorman hair, and his enormous collection of pugs. (this was all done in good fun.)

of course, he no longer holds the reigns at his name-sake house, and i’ve not really paid attention since then either. you can just imagine then, my surprise when looking through the instant feed of the valentino show this morning, with eyes squinting at the screen – my jaw fell straight to the floor – maria grazia chiuri and pierpaolo piccioli showed an absolutely wonderful show. it was aspirational and inspirational, modern and gorgeous. and i never would’ve thought i’d say that about a valentino show. (treat yo’self, pugs included in the last link!)
