“i did not have three thousand pairs of shoes, i had one thousand and sixty.” // i. marcos

my recent bout of spring cleaning has afforded me the realization that i had in my possession a very large amount of things – things i just did not use for, like… years.  this was made very clear as i lugged an at-ripping-point garbage bag full of toiletries and other miscellaneous sundries that had expired – either by date, or by just being dated. conveniently, this also applied to my shoe collection.

there they sat, in the bottom drawer of my wardrobe. forgotten, and covered in a thick film of dust – a constant reminder of bad buying decisions and even worse, pain. out of roughly twenty-five pairs, only two were kept out of sentimentality. the rest, given away – without ever casting a second look. i’m thrilled to be rid of them, i feel lighter somehow –  and now, i won’t feel too badly if i happen to pick up a new pair…
