“you can drag my body to school but my spirit refuses to go.” // b. watterson

perhaps it’s because i’m spending the week where it’s just a tad bit chillier (san francisco), and it’s already the middle of august, that suddenly september doesn’t seem too far off.

when i was younger, i anticipated the beginning of the school year with great excitement. freshly lined notebooks, tightly capped pens and school bags waiting for their paper filling to be taken out, so that new books and pencil cases could find their rightful place. of course, i was a bit of a keener, and lacked a certain social strata that would make me think that there was something outside of the scholastic that was worth getting involved with. i know differently now, but i still get that feeling, that fall flush – that september brings with it a fresh start, a sort of renewal – out with the old, and in with the shiniest and the pristine. it’s also why so many years later, the thought of a daily uniform seems so much more appealing than it once did. it would be so simple… and so amazing.
