“as far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.” // c. jung

far be it from me to ponder human existence in an open forum such as this – i’m no good with virtual-heckling, and i don’t think this is the appropriate venue – i think we’d need to head over to reddit to do that, and well, reddit just doesn’t appeal to my particular tastes. i can, however, ponder the the tie-in between aspiration, discerning taste and consumerism. to wit, i read a copy of monocle and suddenly, i’m either very-well informed with a soupçon of airs, or i’m grasping at straws, trying to find the meaning in certain articles through context alone. YET – yet, i walk into our local monocle shop and i get what it is that they are selling. you want in – you want in to the lifestyle, so along with the book-ish mag, you pick up a print, and a diary, maybe a wallet and a candle. and you’re feeling that much closer to being the well-read, the well-bred, and the well-lived. i mean, we all want to feel a part of that, right?
