“take, if you must, this little bag of dreams, unloose the cord, and they will wrap you round.” // w.b. yeats

the dream is always about a bag.

not the life-fulfilling-climb-mount-kilimanjaro-win-the-lottery-be-wildly-philanthropic-yet-no longer-carry-a-mortgage kind of dream, but i’m always, kinda/sorta wishing on a bag. it doesn’t need to be an IT, it doesn’t even need to be a who, the name of it all doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to manifest itself into a want, but i seem to forever gravitate to those things that i can put more things in to. i’m sure there’s someone out there with a PsyD who could help me out with that, but i think the two designers at mackage could be of a lot more help…

“become so wrapped up in something that you forget to be afraid.” // l.b. johnson

i’ve decided that i’m going to wrap myself up in every single scarf i own, (which would basically turn me from just a mum to a mummy), and become brave against the bluster of winter. it’s that personal insulation i’m looking for that’ll make all the difference once the tundra sets in. use this as a public service announcement – i’m a mummy, occasionally in both senses of the word – i want you to keep warm.

“tough times don’t last, tough people do, remember?” // g. peck

in the former instance – i’ve had my share over time – and though i won’t suddenly belt out a sinatra tune, i’ve seemingly taken on the guise, albeit subconsciously, of one who is rather resilient in the face of things going all pear-shaped.

and though i usually feel like someone a bit more yielding than wonder woman, i always thought her indestructible bracelets were pretty enviable. so, whether it was embedded early in childhood, i’ve always felt just a bit more powerful when all wrapped up, around my wrists and neck: no surprise, k/ller collection gets me…

“the knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.” // d. adams

as i sit here, spilling out of my seat in row 18, aisle seat C, (a far cry from the fluke of an upgrade on the way to the east coast), i’m feeling like a sardine sat on a well-used cushion. i will, however, take some cold comfort in the fact that at least i dressed for comfort, as uncomfortable traveling from a to b can be.

yet, as i was advancing my way up the economy gangway, i noticed that there were perhaps those who find comfort in their clothes in a way i do not. it was the women, one woman in particular who now sits at the very back of this metal can, that strode up to her seat in a 5″ platform shoe; that made clear how one’s perception and feeling of comfort may fly miles farther than where yours or mine, might live. it’s fine of course – we all come from different places – i think i’d just like being closer to the ground when i’m flying 37,000 feet above it.

“we didn’t lose the game; we just ran out of time.” // v. lombardi

i’m running out the door to catch a flight that’ll take me back to stage right.

it took so long to get here, but the time spent went by a mite too quickly. so, for the moment i’ll wish for one more day, and while i lumber through customs and security, then fly speedily east – here are just a few images to while the time away…
