“he that displays too often his wife and his wallet is in danger of having both of them borrowed.” // b. franklin
my brother collected stamps.
it didn’t last long, but he collected them for a bit. i always thought that the idea of a compilation for just the sake of it, as an interest alone, was an admirable pastime. i just couldn’t think of anything that i was curious enough about to consider spending the time amassing it.
there were the momentary teapots, a smattering of matchbooks, that i then used to light my cigarettes while amassing the enormous stores of any and all favourite-band-of-all-time* paraphernalia when the teens (and 20s) hit.
and then later, it dawned on me that i was indeed a collector of sorts. it just wasn’t model trains, vintage textiles, or hummel figurines.
small leather goods did it for me. any shape, any colour, any way – i’m an enthusiast. for pocket change, for cards, for scraps of paper, and perhaps, on occasion, cash – give ’em here. i’ll gladly add another to my collection.

*two-way tie – blur and depeche mode. you wouldn’t think they go together, but they do.
