“i will make you brooches and toys for your delight / of bird-song at morning and star-shine at night.” // r.l. stevenson

i happened to read a quick quip on garance’s blog the other day that proclaimed that brooches were back.

and though i don’t want to piggyback that sentiment – it did leave me scratching my head a bit. you see, i had no idea that they had gone anywhere, no clue that they had gone AWOL. my stick, bar, and brooch pins have been happily hanging about – on pretty much every lapel i own, and to tell you the truth – they’re barely being contained in the jewelry box situation i currently have them cramped in.

old-fashioned for some, i’ve always thought that putting a pin on it was this slightly subversive addition to any wardrobe. it’s just so unexpected – who would think a tough broad would wear a dainty, little pin anyway?
