“crackers are short on sparkle.” // m. mitchell / gone with the wind
december 1st always makes me take a good long look at my wardrobe.
it’s at precisely this time of year that we tend to get more requests for RSVPs than at any other time. were we a few years younger, our summers would be filled with nuptials, but we’re hurtling toward the next decade – school kids, ballet practice, and fingers-crossed, less than the statistical 43% divorce rate. (bite your tongue/knock on wood).
so, when i looked in my closet a moment ago, it dawned on me what a dour affair my celebratory frocks can be. it’s not that i’m about to explode into a tulle-puff of pink, but the mood i’m in demanded at that moment a bit more sparkle than i was looking at. and though i’m not one to buy a new dress for every letter-press invitation, this holiday season might just demand it.
